The Southwest Washington Regional Transportation Council is the Metropolitan Planning Organization for Clark County, Washington, which is a portion of the larger Portland-Vancouver urbanized area. SWRTC is also the state-designated Regional Transportation Planning Organization for the region, which consists of Clark County, Skamania County, and Klickitat County. SWRTC has expanded its use of GIS from hosting data locally to integrating an Esri ArcGIS Online environment to host datasets, interactive maps, and applications, with a goal to provide wider access to data editing and analysis options, and more flexibility in both data use and access. Utilizing the AGO platform provides transportation data access and management capabilities to more staff for collaboration and editing and simplifies data and application sharing to the public.
FLO currently works with SWRTC to gather static GIS data and map products from various local drives on their network and consolidates and publishes these to their AGO environment while establishing new GIS data and metadata standards. FLO provides training on AGO and ArcGIS Pro functionality as needed, including training in navigating the AGO interface, editing, web application creations, and hosted data management. FLO is establishing internal user roles to for data stewardship and control and has reviewed existing tools and applications for future migration and application development projects. The goal is to remediate SWRTC’s currently siloed data access and editing environment through identification of authoritative data and easy access through ArcGIS Pro or web tools and improve data access to both partners and the public.
