City of Stevenson Asset Management and GIS Services

Nestled between the Columbia River to the south and the mountains and basalt cliffs of the Columbia River Gorge to the north, the City of Stevenson is strategically located just above the rapids known as the Upper Cascades in southern Washington. The City has expanded its usage of GIS via the ArcGIS Online environment to provide data access and management capabilities to more staff and ensure they can manage their own datasets. In addition to providing data to populate the asset management platform, the City needed to establish a system to allow more accessibility to both internal and public-facing data through data-sharing and web applications.

FLO began assisting the City by taking existing GIS datasets, cleaning them up, and updating the attributes and fields, and publishing them to the City’s AGO environment. Throughout this process we coordinated with the asset management implementation team to ensure that the data was compatible and appropriately configured. FLO also created various web applications to allow staff to view, update, and analyze City assets. To date, the data migrated spans several topic areas including utilities, compliance issues, parks, and natural resource assets. In addition, FLO has generated privately owned asset data for the City to continue oversight of utility networks throughout the city and created public engagement web applications for constituents to provide feedback. FLO also provides customized training to city staff to teach them how to use and manage the new tools and has conducted specialized analysis to help the City identify potential issues and answer questions about decision impacts.
